GRFS Community Yard Sale Supports Canadian Wildfire Relief with $1,500 Donation
On August 8, 2026, Grand River Friendship Society (GRFS) organized a community yard sale to support individuals and families affected by wildfires across Canada. The fundraising initiative brought community members together with a shared purpose: turning generosity and collective action into meaningful assistance for those facing difficult circumstances.
Through the yard sale, community members had an opportunity to contribute to wildfire relief efforts while participating in a local initiative built around compassion, generosity, and solidarity.
On September 4, 2026, GRFS donated $1,500 CAD to the Canadian Red Cross in support of wildfire relief efforts.

GRFS also requested that the donation be directed to the British Columbia Fires Appeal. The Canadian Red Cross Donor Relations team acknowledged the request and indicated that the donation would be reallocated accordingly.
The initiative demonstrated how a local fundraising event can contribute to relief efforts beyond the Waterloo Region community. Through the generosity of participants, volunteers, and supporters, the yard sale helped turn a shared commitment to helping others into tangible financial support.
GRFS extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who donated items, attended the yard sale, volunteered their time, or otherwise contributed to making the initiative possible.
At GRFS, we believe that meaningful community engagement includes responding to the needs of others with compassion and a sense of shared responsibility. Initiatives like this reflect our commitment to encouraging generosity, social responsibility, and community solidarity.
Together, small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference for communities in need.
