A welcoming entry point to community soccer.
At GRFS, we believe that a place on the field can be a starting point for confidence, friendship and connection. Our Summer 2026 program welcomed young people to learn soccer skills in an encouraging community environment.
We designed the program to make participation accessible, with no registration fee and room for beginners alongside more experienced players.

Our opening sessions brought young players together for coached activities, ball-control practice and the shared experience of playing as a team.
Getting started also meant putting safety first. We postponed sessions when storms and wildfire smoke affected conditions, then welcomed our community when it was safe to begin.
We use football to encourage communication, perseverance, fair play and respect. Listening to a coach, trying again and supporting a teammate are small moments with value beyond the game.
A closer look at our summer sessions: practising skills, listening together and sharing the field.

Our summer community coming together on the field.
We want young people to feel welcome—not only as players, but as members of our community. Families, coaches and volunteers helped create the encouraging atmosphere that gave our opening sessions their energy.
For us, the value of this summer experience lies in those opportunities to participate, connect and learn together. We thank everyone who helped make them possible.
What matters to us
Participation.
Encouragement.
Connection.
Our summer story sits within a wider commitment to opportunity for young people. These images reflect the support and community behind our Football for Learning initiative.

Summer soccer is one part of Football for Learning: Newcomer Youth Education & Empowerment, our broader GRFS initiative connecting sport with education, mentorship and leadership opportunities.
Supported through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, this wider work focuses on expanding opportunities for newcomer and underserved children and youth. The summer sessions featured here tell the soccer part of that story.
