Grand River Friendship Society (GRFS), in partnership with Waterloo Region Immigration Partnership, invites our community to a Journey of Resilience film screening and community discussion on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the GRFS Main Building.
Join us for a small, welcoming gathering that brings people together through film and conversation. With space for a maximum of 20 participants, this event offers an opportunity to listen, reflect and connect with others.
A Film and a Conversation About Belonging
Journey of Resilience is one of the films shown during Welcoming Week. This GRFS screening will create space for community members to explore themes of resilience, migration, belonging, adapting to a new community and lived experience.
The conversation after the film is an important part of the gathering. Participants will be invited to share their reflections, listen to different perspectives and consider how understanding one another’s experiences can strengthen a sense of community.

We will begin with a brief welcome, followed by the film screening. Afterwards, a community discussion and open conversation will give participants an opportunity to share what resonated with them.
