We are excited to announce that the Grand River Friendship Society (GRFS) and the Waterloo Region Suicide Prevention Council (WRSPC) have come together to explore meaningful ways to support mental health and wellbeing in our community.
Together, we are working on initiatives designed to empower and uplift our youth, foster awareness about mental health, and provide crucial resources for suicide prevention. Some of the opportunities we’re exploring include:
🌿 Creative Youth Workshops: Mindfulness-focused activities like Rock Painting and Comfort Kits, designed to help youth (grades 7-12) develop healthy coping mechanisms.
📚 Suicide Prevention Education Presentations: Building awareness, identifying warning signs, and connecting people to life-saving resources.
🎓 Start Training for Staff and Volunteers: Training our team to identify and support those in need of help, whether in person, over the phone, or through text.
💛 Love is a Verb: At the heart of this collaboration is action. Love is more than a feeling—it’s the things we do to support, care for, and uplift one another. Together, through action and advocacy, we can make a difference.
Stay tuned for updates as we continue this journey of hope, healing, and community support.
