We were honoured to celebrate Black History Month with the African Canadian Association of Waterloo Region and Area (ACAWRA) at Grand River Friendship Society (GRFS)!
Our Executive Director, Cumali Sahin, and Board Members warmly welcomed ACAWRA representatives Mamuzo Nwokoro and Nora Ngozi Agwu. The event began with a presentation from our Director of PR, Berat Berberoglu, who introduced GRFS and its mission.
Mamuzo Nwokoro then delivered an insightful presentation on the history and significance of Black History Month, enriching our volunteers with her knowledge and perspective. Following that, Nora Ngozi Agwu shared valuable insights about ACAWRA and its impactful work in the community.
Both organizations expressed great excitement about future collaborations, fostering a partnership built on inclusivity, empowerment, and community support.
After the discussions, our guests enjoyed delicious refreshments and had a wonderful opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations. We also had the pleasure of giving Mamuzo Nwokoro and Nora Ngozi Agwu a tour of the GRFS Baden Campus, showcasing our space and programs.
A huge thank you to ACAWRA and their incredible representatives, Mamuzo Nwokoro and Nora Ngozi Agwu, for joining us and sharing their wisdom, passion, and vision.
As we reflect on Black History Month, we are reminded that “Love is a verb.” It is through action, understanding, and unity that we create a stronger, more inclusive community.
Looking forward to a bright partnership ahead!
