GRFS Featured on CBC Radio Kitchener-Waterloo

Grand River Friendship Society is pleased to share that GRFS was recently featured on CBC Radio Kitchener-Waterloo following its selection for funding through the inaugural FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.

GRFS was selected as one of only 27 organizations worldwide from more than 3,500 applicants.

During the interview, Zehra Sasal, a member of the GRFS Board of Directors, spoke about the organization’s new Football for Learning: Newcomer Youth Education & Empowerment Program and the opportunities it will create for children and youth across Waterloo Region.

The program will combine football, education, mentorship, and leadership development. Over the next year, it is expected to engage approximately 800 children and youth, helping participants strengthen confidence, teamwork, leadership, academic engagement, and their sense of belonging.
