WHO WE ARE?
Grand River Friendship Society Location

Grand River Friendship Society (GRFS) is a community-based, non-profit charitable organization that has been serving the Waterloo Region and surrounding communities since 2005. Our mission is to bring people from diverse cultural backgrounds together to strengthen social cohesion, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging.

At GRFS, we design and deliver inclusive programs that support children, youth, adults, families, and seniors. Our work focuses on education, mentorship, personal development, and community engagement, creating safe and welcoming spaces where individuals feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Our programs aim to:

  • Support the academic, social, and leadership development of youth,
  • Empower women economically and socially,
  • Promote the healthy development of children and families,
  • Strengthen intergenerational connections and community ties, and
  • Celebrate cultural diversity while fostering understanding and inclusion.

With a strong network of volunteers, experienced mentors, and trusted local and national partners, GRFS responds directly to community needs through programs that are practical, inclusive, and impact-driven. We are guided by the core values of inclusivity, collaboration, innovation, empowerment, and respect.

We believe that strong communities are built through friendship, shared responsibility, and meaningful connections. Together, we work to create a more inclusive, engaged, and resilient society.
