The GRFS Mentorship Team recently organized a memorable two-day trip to Kingston for our Grade 12 students, offering them an enriching experience filled with exploration, learning, friendship, and adventure.

During the trip, students enjoyed a scenic boat cruise through the beautiful 1000 Islands, participated in a fun canoeing activity, visited local museums, and explored the history and culture of the Kingston area.

Alongside the educational activities, participants enjoyed spending meaningful time together, creating lasting memories, and celebrating an important stage in their high school journey.

GRFS sincerely thanks the Mentorship Team, volunteers, program staff, and everyone who contributed to the planning and successful delivery of this trip.

We are also grateful to all our Grade 12 students for bringing their enthusiasm, curiosity, and positive energy to this memorable experience.

Learning Beyond the Classroom: Grade 9 Niagara Falls Trip

As part of the GRFS High School Summer Program, our Grade 9 students recently enjoyed a memorable educational trip to Niagara Falls organized with the support of the GRFS Mentorship Team.

The day offered a meaningful balance of learning, exploration, friendship, and fun. Students experienced the beauty and energy of Niagara Falls while discovering more about the cultural, natural, and historical significance of the surrounding area.

Highlights of the trip included:

A Niagara Falls boat cruise

An ice cream treat

Exploring local shops and surrounding attractions

A pizza picnic in the park

Choosing souvenir magnets

Learning about Queen Victoria Park

Discovering the history of Oakes Garden Theatre

Throughout the day, students had opportunities to appreciate nature, explore new surroundings, engage in meaningful conversations, and create lasting memories with their peers and mentors.

The trip reflected an important part of GRFS’s educational and mentorship approach: creating opportunities for young people to learn beyond the classroom, strengthen friendships, develop curiosity, and grow through shared experiences.

A special thank you to Niagara City Cruises for providing our students with an exciting and unforgettable boat cruise experience.

We are also grateful to our mentors, volunteers, and participants whose support helped make this trip safe, enjoyable, and meaningful.

At GRFS, we are proud to provide enriching experiences that support young people’s academic, social, and personal development while helping them build confidence, connection, and a strong sense of belonging.

Throughout the month of May, our GRFS High School Girls Mentorship Program organized a variety of meaningful outings and activities for students in Grades 9–11.

These special gatherings gave students the opportunity to explore new places, express their creativity, build friendships, spend quality time with mentors, and create lasting memories together.

Grade 9 students enjoyed a fun pottery painting experience, where they explored their creativity, designed unique pieces, and shared meaningful time with friends and mentors.

Grade 10 students visited the beautiful village of Elora, exploring local boutiques, cafés, bookstores, artisan shops, scenic attractions, and the charming surroundings of Elora Mill and Victoria Park. The day was filled with discovery, laughter, friendship, and memorable moments.

Grade 11 students spent the day in Toronto, where they explored the city and enjoyed a bike ride around Toronto Islands. With beautiful waterfront views, great food, and plenty of fun, it was a wonderful opportunity to connect, strengthen friendships, and enjoy the city together.

These monthly outings are an important part of our mentorship program. They provide students with opportunities for personal growth, meaningful conversations, community building, leadership development, and unforgettable shared experiences.

We sincerely thank all of our mentors, students, and families for making these moments so special.

At GRFS, we are proud to support youth through mentorship, friendship, guidance, and opportunities that help them grow with confidence, connection, and a strong sense of belonging.

Our GRFS high school mentors spent the weekend exploring Chicago—reflecting at The Bean, strolling Navy Pier, and soaking in the energy of Downtown. It was a joyful mini-getaway that strengthened friendships, sparked curiosity, and helped everyone reset for the new school year.

Mentorship isn’t just advice—it’s presence. Showing up, listening, and creating shared memories turn guidance into growth. Trips like this remind us that Love is a Verb: we learn together, serve together, and lift one another—on the road and back home.

As the school year wrapped up, GRFS youth laced up their cleats and launched into summer with an unforgettable Soccer Festival! More than just a game, this event brought students from Grades 5 to 8 together to play, connect, and celebrate teamwork.

Hosted at Rim Park and led by dedicated mentors, the three-hour tournament was packed with energy, excitement, and moments of friendly competition. Students played with heart, respect, and summer joy — showing that sports can build more than just skills; they build friendships.

When we cheer each other on and show up with kindness, it’s more than a game — it’s love in action. At GRFS, we believe that Love is a Verb — and it shows up on and off the field.
