Last Friday, at our March Dialogue Book Club gathering, we came together around the theme of Women & Immigration. Inspired by The Swimmers and the powerful story of Yusra Mardini, we reflected on a question many immigrants carry in their hearts: “Where am I?”

Perhaps home begins the moment your whole life fits into a single suitcase. And from that moment on, every place your suitcase reaches slowly becomes home.

At the heart of our gathering, we opened a suitcase and invited each participant to place a memory from their journey inside shoes that crossed borders, diplomas left behind, a mother’s embroidery, a father’s keepsake.

Different stories, one shared truth:

Migration is not an ending, but a new beginning.

At the end of the evening, each participant received a small ivy branch with a handwritten note:

“Bloom where you are planted.”

A symbol of resilience, belonging, and the strength to grow wherever life takes us.

Our hope is that migration transforms our stories not into victimhood, but into journeys of courage and growth.

May every new place become a space to take root, to bloom, and to truly belong.
