Through the Neighborhood Connections Through Sport program, women came together for a walking hockey event that was all about joy, inclusion, and connection.
Supported by Field Hockey Canada through the Community Sport for All Initiative, this program breaks barriers by making sport accessible, welcoming, and fun — especially for underserved groups. On the field, we saw women come together, move with purpose, and build lasting bonds through play.

At GRFS, we believe that sport isn’t just about the game — it’s about empowerment, belonging, and love in action.

Yesterday marked the exciting kickoff of our Neighbourhood Connections Through Sport program—and what a joyful launch it was! With laughter, friendly competition, and lots of movement, our seniors (55+) truly brought the energy to the field. It was a powerful reminder that sport is for every age and every ability.

This initiative, proudly supported through Field Hockey Canada and the Community Sport for All Initiative, is all about breaking down barriers and bringing people together. And yesterday, we saw exactly what that looks like—connection, community, and fun.

Because at GRFS, Love is a Verb. We show love by building programs that bring joy, movement, and belonging to those who need it most.

Walking Hockey is more than just a game—it’s a chance for adults 55+ to stay active, connect with others, and enjoy the thrill of hockey in a fun, low-impact way.

Created with community and inclusivity in mind, this program supports healthy aging while bringing people together.

From June 1 to August 1, 2025, weekly Walking Hockey sessions will run at 1117 Snyder’s Rd E in Baden.

All equipment is provided, volunteers are ready to help, and absolutely no hockey experience is needed. Whether you’re looking to try something new or relive your love for the sport, this is your chance to get moving in great company.

At GRFS, we believe love is shown through action—by showing up, sharing joy, and building meaningful moments together. Walking Hockey is a reminder that care can look like passing a puck, laughing on the sidelines, and cheering each other on.
