Yesterday, we had a Mentor Convention hosted by GRFS at Conrad Grebel. GRFS held its annual Mentor Training Day, bringing together 40 middle school, high school, and university mentors from Niagara Falls, Hamilton, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Windsor.
The program included four educational seminars covering the following topics: dialogue, technical mentoring skills, psychology and mentoring, and how to be the best role model for our mentees. There was also a best practices sharing session, where mentors from each age group shared their experiences and strategies.
The day was filled with good food, positive vibes, and valuable networking opportunities. Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to making this event a success.

Our high school youth met up with their mentor at 24Billiards for an evening of fun, focus, and friendship around the pool table. It was a chance to step away from homework and routines, relax together, and learn something new in a positive, supportive space.

Throughout the night, everyone took turns at the table—practising their shots, cheering one another on, and laughing at the “almost!” moments. Our mentor shared tips and encouragement, helping students build confidence, patience, and good sportsmanship with every game.

From May 9–11, GRFS middle school mentors took part in a meaningful mentor development camp.

The camp took place at the Abatolian Heritage Federation facility, bringing together mentors for a weekend of growth and connection. This enriching weekend brought together around 30 mentors from Ottawa, Toronto, and Kitchener-Waterloo to grow, connect, and reflect.

The camp featured a dynamic mix of seminars, book discussions, and hands-on workshops focused on enhancing mentorship skills. Participants exchanged ideas and experiences, learning from one another in a supportive environment. Beyond the sessions, lively social activities—like paintball, volleyball, ping pong, and indoor soccer—offered fun, laughter, and deeper friendships.

At GRFS, we believe love means showing up—with curiosity, with care, and with community. This camp wasn’t just about learning—it was about lifting each other up. It reminded us that mentorship is more than guidance; it’s connection in action.

On May 10th, our Grade 9 students and mentors stepped into nature’s classroom with a visit to the vibrant tulip fields in Niagara.

In the quiet beauty of blooming color, they found space to reflect, connect, and grow!

The vibrant tulips, gentle breeze, and peaceful landscape set the tone for meaningful conversations and shared laughter. As students walked side by side with their mentors, they strengthened trust, opened up in new ways, and found joy in the moment. It was a simple outing—but one that nurtured friendship, curiosity, and care.

At GRFS, we believe love shows up in the little things—a walk through flowers, a quiet talk, a smile that says “I see you.” This visit reminded us that connection doesn’t need a stage—it just needs presence.
