A Celebration of Culture, Dialogue, Music and Community Connection

Grand River Friendship Society (GRFS) is proud to announce that we have received funding from the Government of Canada’s Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program (MARP) – Events Component to present the United in Voices: Intercultural Dialogue Festival.

This exciting community event will take place on:

Saturday, July 11, 2026
Victoria Park Pavilion, Kitchener, Ontario
Free and Open to the Public

About the Festival

United in Voices is a one-day intercultural festival designed to bring people together through:

Live multicultural music and performances

Youth-led dialogue sessions

Art and storytelling activities

Community organization booths

Cultural exchange and celebration

The festival aims to strengthen intercultural understanding, promote inclusion, and create meaningful opportunities for residents of all backgrounds to connect, learn, and celebrate together.

Live Performance by Duende Kings

We are delighted to welcome the internationally acclaimed music group Duende Kings, who will perform a free two-hour live concert as part of the festival.

Known for their vibrant blend of flamenco, Latin, and world music influences, Duende Kings will bring an unforgettable musical experience that reflects the spirit of cultural diversity and unity.

Our Vision

At Grand River Friendship Society, we believe that dialogue, art, and shared experiences have the power to build stronger and more inclusive communities.

United in Voices is more than a festival. It is an opportunity to:

Foster mutual understanding across cultures and faiths
Address racism and discrimination through community dialogue
Empower youth as leaders and bridge-builders
Create a stronger sense of belonging for everyone

We are excited to offer an event that we hope will become a meaningful and lasting tradition in the Waterloo Region.

Funding Acknowledgement

This project is funded by the Government of Canada through the Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program.

What a day! Thank you to everyone who filled our backyard with laughter, games, music, and friendship. We were honoured to welcome community leaders who joined the celebration: Aislinn Clancy (MPP, Kitchener Centre; Deputy Leader, Ontario Greens), Berry Vrbanovic (Mayor of Kitchener), Joe Gowing (Kitchener–Conestoga Provincial Liberal Candidate), Tim Louis (MP, Kitchener–Conestoga), Bardish Chagger (MP, Waterloo), Noura Saad (Family Court Support Program Coordinator, Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region), and Faduma Musse (Executive Director, Somali Canadian Association of Waterloo Region). Your presence meant a lot—thank you for showing up for community. ?

Days like this remind us that love isn’t just something we feel—it’s something we do: sharing a meal, cheering a neighbour, helping a child tie a race ribbon, welcoming new faces, and thanking those who serve our region. Together, we turned a picnic into belonging. Love is a verb!

Mark your calendars for August 31! Our Annual Picnic is back — and you’re invited for an afternoon filled with fun, food, and friendship at our backyard. Whether you’re coming with family or friends, this event is a perfect way to connect, relax, and celebrate community togetherness before summer ends.

? Sunday, August 31
? 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
? 1117 Snyder’s Rd E, Baden, ON N3A 3L2

? Free to attend — but registration helps us plan!

From Tug of War and traditional dances to sack races and giant inflatable ball games, there’s something for everyone — including live music, raffle prizes, and delicious food (vegetarian options included!). Kids will be thrilled with face painting, balloon art, cotton candy, and endless laughter. No need to bring chairs or picnic blankets — we’ve got you covered!

When we gather with joy, share a meal, and cheer each other on during silly games, we’re living out the message that love isn’t just a feeling — it’s action. This picnic is more than fun; it’s how we build a stronger, kinder community together.
