Grand River Friendship Society (GRFS) is proud to announce that we have received funding from the Government of Canada’s Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program (MARP) – Events Component to present the United in Voices: Intercultural Dialogue Festival.

This exciting community event will take place on:

About the Festival

United in Voices is a one-day intercultural festival designed to bring people together through:

•  Live multicultural music and performances
•  Youth-led dialogue sessions
• Art and storytelling activities
• Community organization booths
• Cultural exchange and celebration

The festival aims to strengthen intercultural understanding, promote inclusion, and create meaningful opportunities for residents of all backgrounds to connect, learn, and celebrate together.

Live Performance by Duende Kings

We are delighted to welcome the internationally acclaimed music group Duende Kings, who will perform a free two-hour live concert as part of the festival.

Known for their vibrant blend of flamenco, Latin, and world music influences, Duende Kings will bring an unforgettable musical experience that reflects the spirit of cultural diversity and unity.

At Grand River Friendship Society, we believe that dialogue, art, and shared experiences have the power to build stronger and more inclusive communities.

United in Voices is more than a festival. It is an opportunity to:

Held at the Kitchener Public Library, the room was filled with laughter, memories, and heartfelt conversations. Long-time friends, dedicated volunteers, and new supporters came together to reflect on two decades of service, growth, and connection. We shared stories, honoured our journey, and embraced the warmth of being together again.

The evening featured a touching award presentation, live music by Abdullah Andusesen, and a nostalgic video presentation highlighting the early days of the foundation. We also marked a significant leadership moment with a heartfelt transition between our outgoing and incoming Executive Director and Education Coordinator.

This celebration reminded us that Love is a Verb—not just a saying, but something we live out every day through kindness, compassion, and community. Thank you to everyone who made the night so special. Here’s to the next chapter of friendship and impact!

Created with community and inclusivity in mind, this program supports healthy aging while bringing people together.

From June 1 to August 1, 2025, weekly Walking Hockey sessions will run at 1117 Snyder’s Rd E in Baden.

All equipment is provided, volunteers are ready to help, and absolutely no hockey experience is needed. Whether you’re looking to try something new or relive your love for the sport, this is your chance to get moving in great company.

At GRFS, we believe love is shown through action—by showing up, sharing joy, and building meaningful moments together. Walking Hockey is a reminder that care can look like passing a puck, laughing on the sidelines, and cheering each other on.

Running from July 2 to August 7, Monday through Thursday, this 6-week program is held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Kitchener. Students from JK to Grade 6 will enjoy a dynamic schedule filled with sports, robotics, music, art, Turkish language, and values-based education. Plus, every week brings something new with festivals and hands-on activities to keep the energy high and the learning fun.

As always at GRFS, we believe love is a verb—and we show that love by creating programs that uplift, educate, and empower our youth. Through every song sung, project completed, and friendship made, our Summer School becomes a place where hearts grow alongside minds.
