We were thrilled to welcome Aislinn Clancy, former MPP for Kitchener Centre, and current MPP Candidate for the upcoming elections, to our GRFS Food Festival today at the Baden Campus! Aislinn took the time to connect with our community, enjoy the flavors of authentic Turkish cuisine, and show her support for the meaningful work being done at GRFS.

From savory sarma to sweet baklava, Aislinn, along with other guests, experienced firsthand the warmth, hospitality, and cultural richness our community embodies. Her visit highlighted the importance of fostering local connections and embracing the diversity that makes the Waterloo Region thrive.

Despite the snowy weather, today was filled with smiles, meaningful conversations, and the shared belief that food can bring us all together.

Because love is a verb, we are grateful for community leaders like Aislinn who support initiatives that strengthen the bonds between neighbors.

Thank you, Aislinn, for joining us today!

Today, despite the heavy snowfall, our Grand River Friendship Society Food Festival at the Baden Campus was an incredible success! We had the pleasure of introducing the rich and authentic flavors of Turkish cuisine to our neighbors and the wider Waterloo Region community. From savory dishes like sarma, börek, and içli köfte to sweet delights such as baklava, every table was filled with love, tradition, and delicious food.

We were honored to have Liberal Party MP Tim Louis join us, enjoying the diverse tastes and engaging with our community. His support and presence were truly appreciated.

Our Executive Director Cumali Sahin, Director of PR Berat Berberoglu, and our dedicated volunteers warmly welcomed visitors and ensured everyone experienced the hospitality and spirit that makes our community so special.

The event wasn’t just about food—it was about connecting hearts, building friendships, and sharing the richness of Turkish culture. We are so grateful to everyone who braved the weather and made this day possible.

Because love is a verb, today showed how acts of kindness and community gatherings can create lasting bonds.

Thank you all for your support, and we look forward to more events together!
