A heart-warming October 17 gathering at the Grand River Friendship Society brought neighbours, newcomers, seniors, and friends together to celebrate gratitude—the glue that strengthens community and deepens our sense of belonging.

When gratitude moves our hands—cooking a meal, listening with care, showing up for one another—thanks becomes action. That’s Love in motion. Love is a Verb.

As we look back on Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for our community—neighbors, families, seniors, and newcomers—who make the Grand River Friendship Society feel like home. May this season bring peace, warmth, and abundance to everyone.

Gratitude is more than a feeling—it moves us to act. When we call a neighbor, share a meal, or show up for one another, thankfulness turns into care. That’s Love in motion. Love is a Verb.

We were honored to welcome MPP Aislinn Clancy and her father, along with our Director of PR, Berat Berberoglu, and his wife for a special iftar dinner hosted by our Executive Director Cumali Sahin and his family.

Aislinn graciously joined in the fast for the day, and we all shared not only a delicious spread of Turkish dishes but also warm conversations about culture, food, and community.

It was a beautiful evening filled with connection, laughter, and gratitude.

Love is a verb — and this iftar was a reflection of it in action: through hospitality, shared traditions, and heartfelt moments.
