Closing Another Beautiful Season Together

GRFS Dialogue Book Club came together for its final gathering of the season, closing another meaningful chapter filled with stories, reflections, friendship, and heartfelt conversations.

For our June gathering, we explored the theme of Women, Sisterhood & Authenticity through a thoughtful discussion inspired by the Barbie film and Reshma Saujani’s TED Talk, “Teach Girls Bravery, Not Perfection.”

As always, our conversation went far beyond what we watched and listened to. Together, we reflected on perfectionism, courage, authenticity, self-acceptance, and what it truly means for women to support, uplift, and understand one another.

What began as a book club five years ago has become so much more than a reading circle. It has grown into a friendship bridge built through books, films, shared stories, honest reflections, laughter, vulnerability, and meaningful dialogue.

Through each gathering, women come together not only to discuss words and scenes, but to connect through shared feelings, personal experiences, and mutual understanding. Over time, this circle has become a space of trust, belonging, and connection that deepens with every meeting.

We are grateful to every woman who brought her voice, presence, and perspective to our circle this season. Thank you for every conversation, every insight, and every shared moment.

New stories, new conversations, and new journeys are waiting for us. If you feel called to be part of this circle, you are always welcome to join us.

See you next season …

This month in our book club, our theme is Women, family & Motherhood. We’ll explore the film Tully through the lens of womanhood, the mother archetype, and self-parenting—using the film as a way to understand ourselves more deeply.

Motherhood is often discussed through social roles and responsibilities, but we’ll step outside that frame and reflect on questions like:

• What does it mean that when a baby is born, a new woman is also born?
• How is motherhood a spiritual and inner transformation?
• What is reparenting, and how can we mother ourselves?
• Do we have to experience physical childbirth to be a “mother,” or can caring for the vulnerable—like supporting a friend, mentoring someone younger, or caring for an animal—also express the essence of motherhood?
• How are birth and creativity connected?

If these questions speak to you, bring your coffee (and maybe a friend!) and join us.

This month, our book club dove into the powerful story told in Unbroken, a film that sparked heartfelt conversations on resilience, forgiveness, and the human spirit. As in previous years, our meeting beautifully aligned with the month of Ramadan—a time of reflection and togetherness.

To mark the occasion, we gathered for a warm and welcoming iftar at the home of one of our generous participants. Conversations flowed, delicious food was shared, and hearts were full—not just from the meal, but from the stories we exchanged and the connections we strengthened.

It was yet another reminder that love is not just a feeling—it’s action, presence, and care.

Love is a verb!
